PANINI S1 VISION-e120 PROCESSING SYSTEM

DOCUMENT AND SCANLINE GUIDELINES

The Panini S1 Vision-e120 remittance processing workstation can handle documents of various weights, lengths, heights, grains and thickness. Any remittance processing workstation works best with documents in a "preferred specification" range. For this reason, Omega System of North America Inc. provides the following guidelines to users to provide maximum efficiency in document processing:

Preferred and Acceptable Document Attributes

Attribute

Preferred Range

Acceptable Range

Weight 24 to 28# 16  to 48#
Length* 6 to 8 inches 5.12 to 9.25 inches
Height* 2.75 to 3.5 inches 2.75 to 5.0 inches
Grain Long Long or short
Thickness .0004 to .0064 inches .0003 to .0075 inches

NOTES:
* The documents must have a length-to-height ratio between
1.5 to 1 and 3 to 1.

OCR Scanline Guidelines

Use of the following OCR scanline recommendations should maximize usage of the Panini S1 remittance processing workstation:

  1. The remittance document should have a clear area of at least one half inch around  the scan area.

  2. The scanline data should be printed in the clear area with a top and bottom margin of at least one-quarter inch, as well as a leading or trailing edge margin of at least one-half inch.
  3. The document scanline should be printed in a standard OCR font. OCR-A or OCR-B are the best choices. If Alpha characters are used, OCR-A Alpha font is recommended:

     OCR-A:
       OCR-A Sample
     OCR-B:
       OCR-B Sample
     OCR-A Alpha:OCR-A Alpha Sample

  4. The scanline should contain a CHECK DIGIT for the entire scanline. Use the same CHECK DIGIT VALIDATION routine for all document types.
  5. The entire scanline should consist of 80 printed characters or less. Spaces before, after or between fields do not count in this character count.
  6. Multiple amount fields as well as other fields can be included in the scanline data.
  7. The scanline should contain an account number and an amount as minimum information. Other information may be included, but do not include information that is not needed for remittance processing. Additional information can be printed on other parts of the document, outside the clear area.
  8. The scan line can be located any where in the bottom 4 inches of the document, but at least 3/8 of an inch from the bottom of the document.
