D E R E G U L A T I O N. Is it happening to you?
Would you like to bill multiple products with multiple account numbers?
Would you like to post them fast, accurately and cost effectively?
Would you like to utilize an all-on-one bill stub?
YOU CAN.
With the FLEX Multiple Product Billing option,
utilities can now bill up to eight lines of business or products on a
single bill and process them automatically, on one of several platforms.
Up to eight account and amount fields on as many as two scan lines, can
be processed, while still experiencing all the benefits of automation,
even when processing odd payments.
Processing Payments with FLEX Multi Product Processing...
-
Full Payments. All the amounts and
account information are read from the scan line and totaled. The check is then encoded for
the full amount, endorsed and pocketed. This process is unchanged from the way in which a
single account number and amount are processed.
-
Odd Payments. All the amounts and
account information are read from the scan line and placed in the appropriate
account and amount fields. In the example below, the customer is
paying $15.00 on his trash removal bill instead of the $20.00.
The operator can key in the adjusted amount and the transaction
will automatically be adjusted to $334.30. The check is then
keyed for that amount, and the transaction is completed. The host file correctly represents this change and all
accounts are credited
properly.

By utilizing Multiple Product Billing, we have eliminated the need
for the operator to key each account number and the corresponding amount when only one
amount needs to be modified. This reduction in keying has several important benefits.
Because the number of fields being keyed has been reduced from, in this case, 12 to one,
the time required for processing odd payments is greatly reduced. When you reduce the time
of processing you also reduce the cost. With fewer fields to key, the
accuracy rate increases. An increase in accuracy, decrease in cost, faster posting, and
lower postage costs all result in improved customer service.
